Chromium picolinate is the natural form of chromium used by the body.

Chromium is an essential trace mineral needed by the body for a number of vital biological functions, the most well-known being its role in blood sugar management.

Chromium content in food is heavily dependent on soil and water conditions, as well as manufacturing processes. For example, high sugar foods and dairy are usually low in chromium. Further, dietary absorption is low. Also medications such as oxalate and antacids prevent /lower the absorption of chromium.
